This is an earlier project in my painting class. The truth is, painting costs a lot of time, and spending a lot of time for an entire term only gave me two relatively large pieces of work to showcase.

The photo was taken when my parents and I took a trip to Chengdu, when I was resting on a bench in front of a museum. I really liked the depth of field and spent quite some time to get the feeling of the blurriness correct.

As a part of the practice, we were instructed to first paint a layer with opposite colors. I was told doing so would give the painting a more sophisticated color with greater depth, although I never really know what that means…
